Fresh-air questions, answered
What's an ERV?
An ERV — energy recovery ventilator — is a quiet machine that continuously pushes stale indoor air out and pulls fresh, filtered outdoor air in. As the two streams pass, it recovers heat and humidity, so you get all-day fresh air without throwing away the energy you paid for.
ERV vs HRV — which do I need?
An HRV transfers heat only. An ERV transfers heat and moisture, so your home stays balanced instead of bone-dry in winter or muggy in summer. For most modern homes and mixed climates, an ERV is the better all-around choice — every UpgradeAirKit is built around the LifeBreath MAX XTR ERV. Read the full ERV vs HRV comparison.
